Off-Piste Adventures in the French Alps

The spiritual home of off-piste skiing and mountaineering, Chamonix is also where our ski trips started some five years ago. Since then, our week long Backcountry Courses have been the ideal starting point for confident piste skiers looking to leave the boundary ropes behind and discover the world beyond the piste map.

With the evolution of equipment, there has never been a better time to learn how to ski off-piste and gain maximum benefit from first-class coaching from both a ski instructor and mountain guide. New for 2009, we have also introduced a more advanced backcountry ski week aimed at those of you who have already completed the intro course or who have previous experience of skiing off-piste. Developing your skills further, you will have the chance to ski some of the most challenging and spectacular ski terrain in Europe. The most famous ski tour in the world continues to be our most popular trip. The epic journey from Chamonix to Zermatt passes through mind-blowing alpine scenery and is a goal of many ski tourers. Under the expert guidance of our alpine team, we will help you ski the route of your dreams. We have just a handful of spaces available for 2009 and have added extra date due to demand. Ski Touring in the Italian Alps

This new trip for 2009 explores one of our favourite areas in the Alps - the Gran Paradiso. You won't find any lifts here but you will find some superb ski touring, not to mention some of the best huts in the Alps. Where else in the high mountains can you sit down to an amazing four course meal topped off with a freshly ground espresso?!! If you've already skiied the Haute Route with us and are thinking about where to tour next, the Gran Paradiso is the perfect choice. Similarly, if you are a fit off piste skier and up for a challenge then this week is well worth considering - just remember that it's a long way to the nearest chair-lift! Explorers Wanted! Skiing Under the Midnight Sun.

When 99.9% of the ski population have packed away their boots and got out their swimmers, some of us will be heading north (70 degrees north to be precise) to the Lyngen Alps and the Land of the Midnight Sun! As well as 24 hour daylight, the snow conditions are still fantastic during May with summit to sea skiing possible. In May 2009 we'll be conducting a recce trip to the region, led by Swedish guide Jimmy Harvaldson. If you've done at least a week's ski-touring before and would like to be really "out there" exploring the Lyngen Alps with us then please contact Paul in our office and he'll talk through the details.
