New Destinations for Wilderness Journeys

3rd November 08

Kayaking in Malawi on our adventure holiday

Wilderness Journeys is delighted to announce new adventure holidays to a number of wilderness destinations in the world's wild and beautiful places. There are new destinations on three continents - Europe, Africa and South America - as well as several new trips to countries where we have been operating for some time, such as in Kenya and Bhutan.

In Europe, our new destinations include Greenland and Italy (where trips are based both in the Italian Alps and on the island of Sardinia). Sea-Kayaking is the main theme here, with new trips in both Sardinia and Greenland - you can choose whether you prefer the warm water or cold water sea-kayaking experience! For ski tourers, we have also added a new trip in the Italian Alps, exploring the Gran Paradiso.

Meanwhile, Director Neil Birnie has spent a considerable amount of time in Africa and has developed new trips in Botswana, Malawi (pictured) and Namibia. These include a number of walking safaris, multi-activity holidays and even a photography holiday led by Colin Prior in Namibia.

With lots of South American travel experience in our office, we were always planning to expand our trips there, so are delighted to have added Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands to our portfolio, which already included Bolivia, Chile and Patagonia, Peru and Venezuela. The new itinerary is a sea-kayaking trip to the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador, which is an incredible, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Look out for some new trekking holidays in South America coming soon!

In Asia, while we have not added any new destinations, we are delighted to have added a new trekking holiday in Bhutan to our popular range of trips there. The new itinerary includes gentle but rewarding trekking along two peaceful routes - The Juniper Trail and the Bumthang Cultural Trek. As well as the trekking, this trip involves visits to some of the spectacular dzongs or monasteries, and there is the option of attending some local festivals.

With these new trips, alongside our existing range of wilderness adventure holidays, 2009 should be a great year for our clients! Please do contact us if you would like to discuss any of these trips in more detail.
