Skiing in Zermatt

The warmest spring on record preceeded our arrival in Zermatt at the end of April. Most of the other ski resorts in the Alps had called it a day after 3 weeks of temperatures in the 70s. While the lower slopes of Zermatt looked more like summer than winter, at altitude the conditions remained excellent for some late season off-piste and ski touring.

There were six of us in total, in Zermatt to scope out the potential for an off-piste week. Based in the valley, we found it hard to leave the superb hotel where Rosmarie and Willy were fantastic hosts
